Your Customers are Mobile-First. Is Your Website?

February 26, 2017

The majority of automotive searches are now happening on phones, according to 2016 research on search engine usage.  People have been using phones more and more frequently to search for information online, but this is some of the first research detailing customer behavior specifically when they’re searching for automotive information.  As of 2016, 62% of all automotive web searches are occurring on a phone rather than a computer!  This makes it more important than ever that your site look great on a mobile phone.

There are a couple of ways to do this:  one is a mobile site – a site that loads when people using mobile phones go to your website.  This site will only display the most pertinent information to phone-searchers – a “Click to Call” button, for instance, and directions that can be loaded into their cell phone’s GPS with just one click.

The other way is with a responsive website – these websites may or may not have different content, but they are designed so that all pages of your website will display correctly on a phone, and the text will be legibly large.  This ensures that people loading your website don’t get unreadable text piled on top of images, or content that doesn’t fit on the screen at all.

If you’ve got a smartphone, it’s simple to check whether your website is mobile friendly.  Just open your phone’s web browser, type in your repair shop’s web address, and press ‘Go’.

When you look at you shop’s website on your phone, are you getting the content most relevant to a phone user?  Is all of your text large enough to read?  If not, call us at 1-855-219-7506 or email Team_RSW@repairshopwebsites.com to learn how we can help!
