Millennials Shop Differently

August 4th, 2016

Whether you’re an auto repair shop or a department store, the internet is the easiest way to reach millennials; this is probably not a surprise to anyone.  But the way that millennials use the internet – and the way they shop online – might surprise some.

millennial on phone

Blackhawk Engagement Solutions conducted a study to determine the shopping patterns of millennials.  Here are a couple of statistics from their study:

Eighty-nine percent report that their primary connection to the internet is their smartphone.

Social Media is the most popular shopping news source, with 55% relying on it to make decisions.   In fact social media beats out friends and family!  Only 36% reach out to friends and family outside of social media when making a shopping decision.

If you run a repair shop and you’re looking for new customers, Millennials are among the best targets.  Since they’re younger, they haven’t yet formed a strong relationship with a repair shop yet, making them more likely to try out a new shop.  And since they tend to purchase cars which are previously used, they are less likely to take their vehicle back to the dealership for repairs (because it isn’t under warranty).

This is why we always recommend that repair shops ensure that their pages are mobile friendly, and that shops maintain a presence on social media platforms.  Over half of all web searches are conducted on smartphones now, but that number jumps to 9 out of 10 for Millennials – if your website doesn’t show up properly on a phone, you’re going to miss this entire generation of purchasers.  And while you can reach this generation with your websites, reviews and testimonials, a social media presence is the easiest way to assist with name recognition when they’re asking around about local shops.

How to Promote Your Facebook Business Page – Automotive Repair Shops

January 5th, 2016

How many likes does your Facebook Business page currently have?  Facebook is the most popular way to attract social media users to independent shops – according to SearchAutoParts.com, 73% of the independent shops using social media feel that Facebook yields the best results.  The more likes your shop has, the more likely it is to show up in front of your customers using Facebook!

Here is a list of ways to get more likes for your Facebook Business Page:

  1. Include the Facebook like box on your website – A lot of our customers already have this on their website. Please let us know if this needs to be added.
  2. Invite your employees and friends to like your page – Go to your Facebook page and on the left side you will see “Invite friends to like this Page.” Click on the link and ask your friends to like your page.
  3. Add a Facebook link to your email signature.
  4. Add Facebook to your business cards.
  5. Put up flyers around the shop promoting your page.
  6. Create coupons or promotions centered on Facebook, such as a coupon for your website that offers a discount for liking your page.

If you need help with any of this , please contact our friendly customer service representatives at 866-665-1605.

3 Online Marketing Opportunities for Your Automotive Repair Shop in 2016

December 7th, 2015

Another year is over. When you look back at 2015, was there something that you missed out on that would have made your automotive repair shop more profitable? Did your shop adapt to any of the new online marketing changes that took place in 2015?

The year of 2015 was all about mobile and content marketing. This happened because consumers have rapidly shifted towards surfing the internet primarily from their mobile devices. Google’s major update making non-mobile websites disappear from mobile device search results was further evidence of this. Content marketing is key when it comes to attracting and retaining your customers, because it provides them with relevant and valuable information. If you struggled to gain new business in 2015 for these reasons, we can help you get a leg up on the competition with these marketing opportunities.

What are some online marketing opportunities for 2016?

  • Must Go Mobile – 2015 was the biggest year yet for mobile. Google announced that mobile traffic for their search engine exceeded desktop traffic in the United States. So if your shop has a mobile-responsive website, you already have a leg up on the competition.
  • Pay Attention To Social Media Search – Social media continues to be one of the best ways to connect with your customers and grow your shop’s brand online. It seems that search will be expanding beyond the major search engines and becoming more important in social networks such as Facebook. Your customers will best be able to find your shop in Facebook if your page is filled out correctly and you are staying active.
  • Customer Reviews Are Important – If you didn’t make a push for customer testimonials in 2015, you need to add it to your marketing strategy for 2016. The new consumer goes online to research customer reviews before contacting your shop. Do you have any 5 star reviews on Google?

Do you need help with your online marketing strategy for 2016? Do you need help with your website? If you have any questions, please contact us at 866-665-1605.

2015 Online Marketing Trends

January 9th, 2015

A new year means more changes. The only thing that you can successfully predict for 2015 is that it will bring more changes to technology and the internet. But we can look back at 2014, and use that to see where 2015 will take us.

The year of 2014 was all about content marketing, social media marketing, and image content. The content on your website needed to be of high quality and unique. Social media needed to be diverse. Image content needed to be both entertaining and informational.

What are some trends that will show up or continue in 2015?

  • Mobile-optimization – Mobile friendly websites are more important than ever. Google changed their search engine to show if a site is mobile friendly. If your customer is on a mobile device and your site isn’t mobile friendly, it won’t be clicked on. Google made this change because sites that aren’t mobile-friendly don’t work well on mobile devices. Why not make it easier for your customers to learn about your business, and contact you?
  • Content is still the KING – If you want your customers to find your website on search engines, you need to have relevant, and high quality content. Your customers go to search engines to answer questions, find places, and shop. Your website needs to have content that is relevant to the services you offer and the services that your customers are looking for online.
  • Social Media – Social Media continues to be an important factor when it comes to connecting with your customers and enhancing your brand image. Stay active with posting, and put a face on your brand.
  • Your Brand’s Story – Get personal with your customers. Use your website to show your customers what your repair shop is all about. Add new pictures, update the design, add your logo, and add positive customer testimonials. This will help the website visitor understand that your shop is qualified to service their vehicle.
  • Videos – The most entertaining and most shareable content on the web are videos. Videos can entertain, inform, and persuade. If you create a video that has all three, it will be seen and shared. Creating a video for your business will improve website traffic, and traffic into your bays.
  • Wearable Technology – Technology companies came out with glasses, and watches that surf the internet. Why not prepare for what the future will bring? One way to stay ahead of the competition is to think about: How do you market to these customers who wear this technology?

January 9th, 2015

GUESS how I learned that it was 26 degrees in Pensacola, FL!!!? Okay, I’ll tell you… FACEBOOK! Yup, I saw a post about it when I scrolled through my “News Feed”. You know what else I saw when I scrolled through my “News Feed”? I saw posts by and about businesses that I (or my friends) had “liked”.

Why am I telling you about this? Because if you aren’t already, you should be on this bandwagon… Facebook. You should be posting and reminding customers that you exist- because one day they will need your services. Maybe not today, but by reminding them that they are connected to a repair shop, when they need a mechanic – they’ll check their Facebook connections and call you!

If you have questions about this, we’d love to help you understand it more. Give us a call at 855-349-5289. We care about your business and want to see it thrive.

New Facebook 5 Star Ratings

November 12th, 2013

Facebook may have recently moved your 5 star rating to underneath your company’s name. The ratings feature is not new, your fans have been able to leave reviews about your business for a while. It was located further down on the right side of your Facebook business page.

Take a look at the picture to see how your Facebook business page looks. Your page may not have this rating under you name yet because they are currently in the testing phase.

This new move could be good because it will take the focus away from how many likes your Facebook page has and focus more on the quality of your service or products.

This change could also hurt you because the rating scale is more prominent, so if you have bad ratings they will be seen right away and they might show up in searches or Facebook ads?

Just make sure your company provides excellent customer service and asks your customers to leave honest testimonials about the experience they had with your business. Customer reviews are important and can bring in new business.

In our 4th gear package customers can submit testimonials from your website and we can post to your Facebook business page for you. To learn more, contact us at 866-665-1605 Option 2.
